We are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to drive the design, implementation, and evolution of a Kotlin-based microservice architecture for our banking systems. In this role, you will provide technical leadership, guide engineering teams, and ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performing backend solutions.

How You Will Make an Impact:
Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of backend services and platforms.
Drive architecture decisions in collaboration with architects and engineering teams.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews, design reviews, and day-to-day engineering guidance.
Define and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
Deliver new features and enhancements that meet business, user, performance, and reliability requirements.
Troubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
Ensure high software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.
Collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Drive improvements in performance, security, scalability, and maintainability across backend services.
Identify technical risks, propose mitigation strategies, and proactively address architectural and operational challenges.
Support the growth and development of engineers through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
10+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin; experience with Java is highly desirable.
Strong experience designing and building microservice architectures.
Strong proficiency with Quarkus; experience with Spring Framework is a plus.
Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers, such as Kafka.
Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and observability.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control systems (Git).
Strong knowledge of performance optimization, secure coding practices, and application security.
Experience working in Agile environments and applying DevOps practices.
Strong knowledge of core AWS services and K8s.
Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architectural decisions across teams.
Experience in banking, fintech, or other highly regulated enterprise environments is a plus.
Fluent English is required in spoken and written communication due to working on Pan-Baltic level.

Gross salary. 4200–6700 EUR/month, which is to be determined depending on your level of experience and competencies
